He was enamored with Native American history and culture and built the cabin as a testament to their long history. Gifford Pinchot State Park is located at 2200 Rosstown Road. This park offers a wide variety of environmental education and recreation programs year-round. There are hands-on activities, evening programs, pontoon boat tours of the lake, an environmental learning center to see exhibits and discover more of the park’s natural environment. York City Ice Arena is located at 941 Vander Avenue. This facility offers high quality ice skating programs and non-skating recreation and entertainment events. Fire Museum of York County is located at 757 W. Market Street. Located in the historic 1903 Royal Fire House, this museum allows visitors to see how York firefighters lived, worked, and played. The building holds more than 225 years of firefighting equipment representative of the 72 fire companies of York County. The Colonial Complex is located at 157 W. Market Street. This popular museum encompasses 4 historic buildings in downtown York. Your 45-60 minute guided tour will explore the county’s role during the American Revolutionary War and everyday life and culture during the 18th century. The Golden Plough Tavern served as a source of news and information for travelers and locals. The General Horatio Gates House reflects an upper-class English home of the late 18th century. The reconstructed Colonial Courthouse highlights the story of the 2nd Continental Congress when they worked out of York in 1778 and adopted the Articles of Confederation.
